A ramblers love affair

BluesMatters 2018

Hiking down this old winding road

My frayed guitar’s my only load

Sun in the face, wind in the hair

This is a rambler’s love affair

Shabby blue jeans and dust on my shoes

Have no penny, got nothing to lose

Flat man’s my buddy, holds more than a drop

Perfectly ample till the next stop

Got to the tavern, the sun had set

Having wiped off the dust and sweat

Down by the bar with a drink or two

Slightly wasted by the time I was through

Began to sing and to pick the strings

The folks would offer me all kinds of things

The booze, a bed, some baked beans too

Had not a dime, as they all knew

Tomorrow when the sun will rise

When I wake up and open my eyes

Then I’ll set out to walk the lane

Like in the past I’ll ramble again

Hiking down this old winding road

My frayed guitar’s my only load

Sun in the face, wind in the hair

This is a rambler’s love affair
